Willow Road Detours and Work Plan

December 22 – January 2, 2015

  • Wagner Detour.  The southern intersection of Willow Road and Wagner Road remains closed.   Regional traffic is being detoured to Waukegan Road.  The intersection is anticipated to be re-opened the week on December 23.  The mainline pavement is expected to be installed this week followed by the curb, gutter and striping work next week.   Click here for the detour map

  • Chapel Hill to the Wagner.  The final water main work is underway and will be followed by the installation of the subgrade and pavement. 
  • Wagner to Bridge.  The contractor will be working on the removal of the existing storm sewer lines and the installation of the water main and sanitary sewer laterals.        
  • River Bridge.  The sleeper slab and parapet wall are scheduled to be poured the week of December 22. 
  • Edens Bridge to Linder.  The bridge parapet wall and the sidewalk east of the Edens will be poured as weather permits.

Willow Road Detours and Work Plan

December 5 – December 19, 2014

  • Sunset Ridge Road Intersection.    The intersection remains open to north and south bound traffic but, the no left turn restrictions continue.  The intersection is anticipated to be fully re-opened the week of December 15.
  • Chapel Hill to the River.  The final water, sanitary, and storm sewer installations are all underway and this work will continue over the next two weeks.  Local streets may be impacted periodically for the utility connections within the intersections.
  • River Bridge.  The bridge paving work is scheduled to start the week of December 8.  Once the deck is poured the contractor will start on the parapet wall.
  • Bridge to Edens.  Nicor is still working on this area to remove their gas main that is in conflict with other utilities.  As soon as their work is complete and the contractor can access the area they will begin the water and sewer installations.
  • Edens Bridge to Linder.  The bridge parapet wall and the sidewalk east of the Edens will be poured as weather permits.

Construction Alert – Winnetka Avenue

Later this week, the Cook County Department of Transporation and Highways will begin construction work on Winnetka Avenue between Happ and the Edens Expressway.  Winnetka Avenue will remain open to east and west bound traffic at all times.  Detours will be put in place for the Frontage Road intersections in two phases:

Phase I.  The northern half of Winnetka Avenue will be reconstructed from just east of Happ to the Edens Bridge.  The northern intersection of Frontage Road and Winnetka Avenue will be closed.  Local traffic will be detoured north to Harding Road.  Click here to see the detour route.   http://www.northfieldil.org/documents/Willow/Exhibits/WinnetkaRoadWork.pdf
